How to Care for Your Art…

Each of my pieces is handmade, making every one truly unique. As they are carefully crafted by me, they are first and foremost intended as art.

However, some pieces—like my punch needle coasters—also have a functional purpose. If you plan to use them regularly, please read the care instructions below. ♡

Kats Korner coasters are handmade with care, making each one unique and delicate. While they are designed for functional use, they are still handcrafted pieces of art! To keep them looking their best, follow these care tips:

Handle with Care

These coasters are delicate, so avoid excessive pulling to help them keep their shape and durability.

Cleaning Tips

Spot clean gently with a damp cloth and mild soap—no scrubbing! A lint roller works wonders for picking up stray fibres and dust.
Do not machine wash, as this may cause fraying or distortion.

Using with Hot Drinks

Hot mugs may cause condensation. To prevent moisture from seeping through, let your mug cool slightly before placing it on the coaster.
Avoid prolonged exposure to heat, as it may affect the durability of the piece.

Moisture & Surface Protection

Keep dry—excess moisture can weaken the fibres and backing over time.
Always place your coaster on a dry surface to help maintain its integrity.

Safety First

Fabrics, yarn, and backing materials may be flammable. Keep away from candles, heaters, and open flames.
Keep out of reach from young children due to delicate handmade construction.
Some products contain small components (e.g., embellishments) that may pose a choking hazard. Keep away from young children and pets.
Not a Toy: Unless specified otherwise, my products are for decorative or crafting purposes only and not intended for children's play.

Storage & Longevity

Store flat when not in use to maintain its shape.
Designed for decorative and light functional use—some wear and tear may occur over time with regular use.

Kats Korner punch needle wall art and hangings don’t require much upkeep, as they’re usually displayed on a wall or shelf without much handling. However, to keep them looking their best, here are a few simple care tips:

Dusting:

Every now and then, give your piece a gentle dust-off with a soft brush or use the lowest setting on a handheld vacuum.

Placement:

To keep the colours vibrant, hang your piece away from direct sunlight—it helps prevent fading.
Humidity can affect fibres over time, so avoid placing your artwork in damp areas like bathrooms.
If framed or hung, ensure secure attachment to prevent falls.

Handling:

If you ever need to move it, handle it by the frame or backing rather than touching the punch needle loops to keep them neat.
Glass Warning – If applicable, handle with care to avoid breakage.
Sharp Edges – Some frames may have sharp edges; handle with caution.

Kats Korner tufted rugs are first and foremost intended as art decorative pieces. However please do follow the below care instructions especially if you intend to place your tufted rug on the floor.

Vacuuming:

Your rug might shed a little at first—that’s completely normal! A gentle vacuum once or twice a week will help.

Spills & Stains:

If something spills, act fast! Blot the area with a dry, undyed cloth—no rubbing!
For tougher stains, use a mild, bleach-free cleaner, but be careful not to soak the rug.

Keeping It Looking Fresh:

Rotate your rug every few months to even out wear and prevent fading in one spot.
If you notice a yarn tuft sticking out, don’t pull it! Just snip it with sharp scissors to keep everything smooth.
Use a lint roller for loose fibres.

Please Note:

Placing an anti-slip mat under your rug - If you're placing your rug on the floor I recommend this as it will help prevent slipping.
